Best Of 2012:
Almost Always - Failed Utopia
Austin, TX creative Curbside Jones linked with fellow Texan producer Corey Arnell to become the duo Almost Always and made the incredible concept album, Failed Utopia. This album saw both artists taking their respective crafts to the next level all while examining societal ills through a supernatural medium. With this album, Corey Arnell established himself as one of the best producers out right now. Hopefully we get to hear more of his sound in many other places next year. Curbside on the other hand, went into somewhat of a hiatus after the release until 2014.
Curbside Jones - “Reflection Champloo”
prod. Phill Blanks
Austin, TX artist Curbside Jones is currently working on the re-mastered re-release of his critically acclaimed album The Cherry Blossom Effect: Endless Dream Theory. In anticipation, he has released a new bonus track off the re-release titled “Reflection Champloo” produced by UK beatmaker Phill Blanks. Those familiar with the CBE LP will notice the deviation from the usual hard-knocking beats of the album to this much more serene and smoother sound provided by Blanks for Curbside to get introspective on. More Curbside Jones x Phill Blanks collaborations are in the works.
Curbside Jones - “Get Away!”
New free (*hint for you rappers) instrumental heat for the instrumental skreets courtesy of Austin, TX emcee/producer Curbside Jones. Stay tuned as Snorlax Jack is currently working on the fully remastered deluxe edition of his critically acclaimed album The Cherry Blossom Effect: Endless Dream Theory.
Almost Always - Failed Utopia
After developing a great emcee/producer synergy in their past works, lyricist/filmmaker/graphic designer Curbside Jones and producer Corey Arnell have linked up to form the duo Almost Always. As a result, the two Texas artists take their respective crafts to the next level on their debut album, Failed Utopia. Using an approach that could be seen as a distant cousin of Lupe Fiasco’s The Cool, Curbside Jones plays the narrator re-imagining stories of different individuals inspired by Jones and Arnell’s own life experiences as if they came back from the dead, allowing the opportunity to create some very introspective material with a supernatural touch. Arnell puts on one hell of a show providing a best of 2012-contender arsenal of beats while Jones proves that his musical and lyrical court-vision is at its most refined state yet. This free album download includes wallpapers and alternate album art by Curbside Jones and Back2Pluto’s own Mark II. Curbside states that this will be his last music project in a while as he will be focusing on his other creative endeavors, so be sure to pick this album up and keep it jamming until Snorlax Jack returns.

Curbside Jones - “Departure”
In addition to dropping his upcoming album Failed Utopia as the duo Almost Always with Corey Arnell, Curbside Jones is preparing a new beat tape titled Pseudo Pastel Sunsets. Here’s the first track “Departure”; a very soulful and creatively chopped sample piece with Jones’ signature loud snares all over the joint.
