N.O.M.A.D - P E A C E F U L / P L A N E T
After an epic tear of EP releases last year, Fort Worth, TX producer N.O.M.A.D illustrates the sounds he hears in the world created in his mind while in a dream-state on his first album offering of 2013, P E A C E F U L / P L A N E T. As serene as the album title sounds, the tracks fluctuate in range from lush to chaotic in an instant, creating an unpredictable atmosphere only accomplished by N.O.M.A.D’s keen ear for left-field sources of sound. Close your eyes and get lost during your listening experience.
rMell - “Spicy”
With the strength of his well-received debut album NEOGEO still making waves in the underground, rMell follows up with “Spicy” a fun little flip of a Spice Girls song turned into a freestyle party jam. Love how that synth is utilized in the hook. Catch rMell performing live tomorrow at Back2Pluto Invades Art Under Pressure.

Paperwolf - Into Forever
Columbus, OH producer Paperwolf explores the limits of orchestral sampling with his latest instrumental album, Into Forever. Every beat on here is epic and serene like something you would hear in a soundtrack to an action-fantasy film, but turnt up. Most beat tapes can take you into another world, but this one can take you into another universe entirely. I’m lowkey about to embark on an adventure to retrieve a magic sword after listening to this. Jokes aside, the production here is very crisp, and you’d be hard pressed to find others who could pull off this type of sampling without sounding gimmicky.
ANTHM - Joy & Pain EP
We highly recommend you download and listen to the new Joy & Pain EP by Manhattan, NY artist ANTHM. This young emcee has a penchant for technically precise lyricism with a few elements of crossover appeal due to universal themes of love and other emotional conflicts present in the song topics. To make the description a bit more palpable, think Kendrick Lamar with less arrogance and a sharper ear for beats (all respect to TDE in-house prod though). On this brief EP, ANTHM allows enough content for listeners to get a good idea of his individual style and reserves some effective cameos by Los Angeles emcee Blu and Gary, IN’s Freddie Gibbs. Overall, very interested in seeing what path ANTHM will take with this sonic direction in the future and definitely adding this EP in my favorite projects of 2012. Cop this ASAP.
rMell - FRECKLES
B2P’s resident cool guy rMell aka the Freckled Fooligan returns with a new full length mixtape FRECKLES. As he is reserving heat for his highly anticipated upcoming album NEOGEO, FRECKLES is parts no holds-barred trollful indulgence and a statement of rMell’s artistic progression as this tape hits with a near-instantaneous appeal. His last project Hipsters & Hypebeast suffered from a lot of features that detracted from fully displaying his style. However on FRECKLES, listeners can get a better idea of rMell’s cartoony, cool, calm and collected demeanor as he keeps cameos limited only to fellow Grammy (Grandmothers Rarely Accommodate My Mans Yawmean) Family member Matt McGhee, Miles Meraki and Kool Klux Klan’s CRASHprez. Download this tape real quick and enjoy one of the DMV (and music in general)’s rising talents.
