Kenny Segal - Kenstrumentalz Vol. 1
Kenny Segal, known for his critically acclaimed work with Los Angeles collective Project Blowed releases a new instrumental album. Jazzy and mellow sample flips are abundant. Highly recommended for the next time you need to chill out.
Curbside Jones - Tokyo College Dropout
Austin, TX artist Curbside Jones makes an homage to the classic sex-comedy manga/anime series Golden Boy with his latest in a series of instrumental projects, Tokyo College Dropout. Deviating from his usual big and booming style of production, Curbside really lets the listener appreciate the soulful samples before smoothing them out and accentuating with the right drums and soundbytes from the anime. A must-listen for fans of Golden Boy and hip hop juxtaposition.
High Class Filth - Perfect Nudes Forever
Maryland producer and member of the enigmatic Backwards Society High Class Filth dropped his latest instrumental project Perfect Nudes Forever off a few days ago, and I’ve had it on repeat for a while now. Typically I’m not a fan of instrumental projects, but Filth has once again proven my taste wrong. The beats on here vary in sound; you have some cloud rap instrumentals, some trap, and some very chill hip-hop beats. My personal favorite would have to be the hilariously named “feet pics plz” which features a great sample of Moments In Love by Art Of Noise. Filth is one of the best producers in the area, possibly on the entire east coast, and he continues to flex with this project.
Evil Needle - Qualia
Qualia is simply a gorgeous instrumental album by French producer Evil Needle. This is his second release via Los Angeles-based label HW&W Recordings. While making you feel as if you’re floating down a waterfall in deep space, these beats also SLAP.
For some more insight, here is a definition of the word “qualia” from Wikipedia:
“Qualia” is a term used in philosophy to refer to individual instances of subjective, conscious experience. The term derives from a Latin word meaning for “what sort” or “what kind.” Examples of qualia are the pain of a headache, the taste of wine, or the perceived redness of an evening sky.
Enjoy.

NegroSaki & Dave Universal - Saki x Universal
Tampa, FL producer extraordinare NegroSaki collaborates with his fellow producer and brother Dave Universal over the course of 8 ethereal neck-snapping instrumentals on their new album Saki x Universal. Mixing NegroSaki’s soulful sample chopping sensibilities with Dave Universal’s very electronica/Southern-influenced sound results in an aesthetic that can captivate multiple audiences. The combination just works.
Alias: The Architect - Steady Rock
Drawing influences from the worlds of 8-bit, Reggae, Soul and more, Southern California producer and multi-instrumentalist Alias: The Architect composes beats with every ingredient made completely from scratch on his free debut LP, Steady Rock. You’d swear these tracks all used samples, but everything (except the obvious recordings) down to the 8-bit and the singing is organic. Stay tuned for much more new music from Alias.
N.O.M.A.D - N O / H I D I N G
Texas producer N.O.M.A.D returns with his latest album N O / H I D I N G. An appropriate title, N O / H I D I N G reveals N.O.M.A.D making his debut as an emcee on a few tracks. More than likely, almost all producers make great emcees as they are the ones who understand their sound better than anyone else, and N.O.M.A.D evidently knows how to tame his very wild sound.
Supah Mario - Supah Mario World
Very chill but knockable instrumental album by Supah Mario, an acclaimed Southern producer who has provided beats for the likes of Brick Squad while maintaining a growing fan-base in the instrumental music realm. You gotta love that artwork. S/O to Chuuch.
Flue - The First Dreamers
Raleigh, NC beatmaker Flue mixes ethereal sounds with sci-fi flavors on his latest instrumental album, The First Dreamers. Perfect for any morning/evening cruise and meditation time.
Doc ILLingsworth - Train Runner EP
Cop Detroit artist Doc ILLingsworth’s new instrumental EP Train Runner and together, you can help him run the train he needs to get to SXSW this year. lol. All jokes aside, ILLingsworth does have a gig booked for SXSW but he needs some monetary assistance to actually get to Austin, TX. This very funked-out EP has 9 tracks of absolute bangers as a result of ILLingsworth stepping outside of his comfort zone as a producer. Support a true DIY musician by purchasing this EP.
Update: Supporters have managed to cover ILLingsworth’s travel fees. Good work, folks.
